MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, March 9, 2016 – The Australian Medical Council has extended its partnership with computer-based testing leader Pearson VUE in a new multi-year agreement.
Ian Frank AM, chief executive officer of the Australian Medical Council, said that a key reason for choosing to enter into another multi-year agreement with Pearson VUE is the innovation offered by the use of computer adaptive testing (CAT) for the AMC MCQ exam and the tablet-based delivery of the AMC Clinical Exam.
He said: “This is a sophisticated method of testing applied medical knowledge. Computer adaptive testing alters the difficulty of questions depending on the quality of the candidate’s answers, leading to a more meaningful test of their skills and ability. Our partnership with Pearson VUE allows the AMC to build on the assessment expertise that has been developed by Pearson VUE and has given us confidence that they can continue to deliver this exam to the highest standards.”
The AMC Clinical Exam, a practical station-based OSCE exam, is delivered via a tablet-based platform at the AMC National Test Centre, which is a state-of-the-art purpose built clinical exam testing facility located in the heart of Melbourne.
